FAQ About Computer Form / Continuous Paper
What is Computer Form paper made from?
Computer form (AKA continuous paper, continuous form, carbon copy form, etc) is made from a type of paper known as Carbonless Paper. Sometimes known as NCR Paper or No Carbon Required paper. They usually come in a few ply of paper because of their purpose and structure.
The paper is coated with chemicals held in dye capsules and dye coreactant. Once the capsules received pressure from the printer, they will burst and cause the image to appear.
The paper is coated with chemicals held in dye capsules and dye coreactant. Once the capsules received pressure from the printer, they will burst and cause the image to appear.
Since the paper comes in many plies, there is what is called a Coated Front and Coated Back. The top paper has a Coated Back with the capsules. The front of the second page has a Coated Front. When the Coated Front and the Coated Back chemicals interact, the image will be produced on the Coated Front side.
When there is more than 2 ply, the middle page will have both the Coated Front to receive the image and the Coated Back to transfer the image to the next page.
What is it used for?
The computer form is typically used when more than one set of documents is needed such as for delivery orders, purchase orders, invoices, and reports. The printout on the front side is transferred to the second ply or more.
